Catherine Anne O'Hara OOC was born March 4, 1954. O'Hara is the proud winner of many awards which include the Genie Award. In 2018, she was named an Officer of Canada. Then, in 2020, she was awarded the Governor General's Performing Arts Lifetime Artistic Achievement award. O'Hara first made her appearance as an actress in 1974, when she was in The Second City, an Improv comedy group located in Toronto. Alongside John Candy (1975-1978), she was part of the main cast of the sitcom Coming Up Rosie (1975-1978). The next year, O'Hara and Candy began work on the sketch comedy show Second City Television (1976-1984) in which she received praise from critics for her work as a comic actress as well as a writer. She was awarded a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for the Variety Series in 1981. O'Hara was a member of the brand-new Second City artistic Advisory Board and was led by Stephen Colbert.
