Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born on the 20th of October, 1964 was a prominent American politician and lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is also the first female vice-president as well as the highest ranking female official in the United America. She is a senator and former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office prior to her move to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003 she was appointed district attorney of San Francisco. In 2010 she was appointed Attorney General of California and re-elected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. As a senator, she advocated for reforms to healthcare as well as federal de-scheduling cannabis, a pathway towards citizenship for immigrants without a legal status as well as the DREAM Act, a ban on assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. She is most famous for her direct questions to Trump administration officials in Senate hearings.
